The October 16 start date is confirmed, but Activision has not announced an exact hour for the Campaign to unlock. Its latest support information lists October 16 in Pacific Time (PT), without providing a worldwide start-time schedule.Do not confuse the confirmed October 15 at 9:00 AM PT PC preload time with the Campaign unlock time. The preload lets you download the files ahead of release, but it does not let you start playing the Campaign on October 15.

What Is the MW4 Campaign About?
Modern Warfare 4 takes place during a major new conflict on the Korean Peninsula. North Korea launches a full-scale invasion of South Korea, while another part of the story follows Captain John Price operating outside official channels.The Korean storyline follows Private Park, a young South Korean soldier, and his squad as they face the invasion. Meanwhile, Price's personal mission pulls him toward Archer and a weapon capable of changing the balance of global power.
Captain Price Is on the Run
Following the events of Modern Warfare III, Task Force 141 has broken apart, and Price has gone off the grid. After the assassination of General Shepherd, former allies question his actions as he pursues the threat linked to Archer.
The Campaign moves between large conventional battles and covert operations. Confirmed settings include Korea, with other parts of the story taking players to locations such as Paris and New York.

Price's mission also brings him into contact with former enemies. Valeria and the Las Almas cartel become part of his pursuit of the larger threat, creating an uneasy alliance.

Losing Ground is another officially identified Campaign mission, first previewed in footage released on July 30. It follows Private Park and his fellow South Korean soldiers as North Korea's invasion turns their situation into a desperate fight for survival.The footage offers a first look at the mission, but the complete mission objectives and story outcome have not been confirmed before launch.
Stranded
Stranded takes place inside North Korea and follows Private Park when his squad finds itself surrounded in hostile territory. Does MW4 Campaign Early Access Include Multiplayer?
No. The October 16 Early Access period is for the Campaign, and Activision has not announced Multiplayer access before the full release on October 23.DMZ is different: it has a newly confirmed early-access date of October 20. So the Campaign, DMZ, and Multiplayer do not all unlock on the same day.
When Does MW4 DMZ Early Access Begin?
Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Early Access starts Tuesday, October 20, 2026, according to Activision's October 9 announcement. Players who digitally pre-order the Standard or Vault Edition can access all of DMZ three days before the full October 23 launch.DMZ is the game's extraction mode, where you deploy into the Hajin Exclusion Zone, battle AI and other players, complete objectives, collect loot, and extract. You do not need to finish the Campaign to qualify for DMZ Early Access; the same eligible digital pre-order covers both.

Does Campaign Progress Carry Over to October 23?
Campaign Early Access is access to the full game mode rather than a temporary Beta. Activision has not announced a reset of Campaign saves when the game fully launches on October 23.Progress should therefore remain available when the full game releases, but this has not been explained in a detailed Campaign save-transfer policy. Cross-platform Campaign save behavior also remains unconfirmed, so do not assume a save can move between different platforms.
Are There MW4 Campaign Rewards?
As of October 10, Activision has not published a confirmed, complete list of rewards for finishing MW4 Campaign missions. That means specific Campaign-only Operator skins, Blueprints, and XP Tokens should not be presented as confirmed rewards yet.However, digital pre-orders do include separate, confirmed bonuses such as the Inner Circuit M4 Weapon Blueprint and Hunter Killer Operator Skin. These are pre-order rewards, not proof of Campaign completion rewards.

Should You Play Entrenched Before Campaign Early Access?
Entrenched was a playable MW4 Campaign mission during the Beta, but that Beta has ended.
