Infinity Ward has revealed Stranded, a new Modern Warfare 4 Campaign mission set deep inside North Korea. The short first-look trailer shows Private Park separated in hostile territory, moving through snowy terrain, using stealth, and fighting inside a North Korean military facility.
If you want to know what actually happens in the Stranded footage without reading too much into a short teaser, here is everything the new gameplay confirms so far.
MW4 Stranded Mission First Look
Stranded is a Modern Warfare 4 Campaign mission that takes place deep inside North Korea. The official description says Park's squad is surrounded and being hunted, making this look very different from the large battlefield shown in the playable Entrenched mission.
The footage starts with military action in a frozen environment before showing Private Park isolated in the snow. From there, the mission moves into quieter infiltration gameplay and eventually close-range combat inside a military facility.

What Happens in the Stranded Gameplay?
The Stranded trailer is very short, so Infinity Ward is clearly keeping most of the mission hidden. However, the footage gives us a useful look at the mission setup, its environment, and the type of gameplay Park will face.
It also shows that Stranded is not simply another large frontal assault. Much of the footage focuses on Park surviving and moving through enemy-controlled territory with limited support.
Private Park Is Stranded Behind Enemy Lines
The mission's title describes its main problem. Park and his squad are trapped
deep inside North Korea, surrounded by enemy forces that are actively searching for them.
The footage shows combined military action in a snowy region before Park is left operating in much more isolated conditions. One sequence includes an aircraft explosion, followed by scenes of Park moving through the frozen landscape while enemy troops patrol nearby.
That gives Stranded more of a survival and infiltration feel than the large battlefield combat we have already seen elsewhere in the MW4 Campaign.
Stealth Gameplay in North Korea
One of the clearest differences in Stranded is its slower stealth gameplay. Park is shown moving carefully through enemy territory while carrying a pistol rather than pushing forward with a large friendly force.
Enemy soldiers can be seen moving through the environment while Park uses cover and attempts to stay hidden. The footage suggests that avoiding detection will be important during at least part of the mission.
However, Infinity Ward has
not confirmed a separate or expanded stealth system for Stranded. We only know that the mission includes stealth-focused sequences based on what is shown in the trailer.
Inside the North Korean Military Facility
The mission eventually moves away from the open snow and into a North Korean military installation. This is where Stranded appears to shift from careful infiltration into more traditional close-quarters Call of Duty combat.
Park is shown fighting through the interior of the facility as the situation becomes more chaotic. Several pieces of military equipment are visible throughout the complex.
One of the most interesting shots appears to show a
small submersible or underwater craft inside the facility. Infinity Ward has not explained what the object is or whether it is connected to the mission objective, so its importance remains unknown.
It could simply be environmental detail, or it could be connected to whatever Park's squad was attempting to reach inside North Korea. For now, anything beyond what is visible in the trailer would be speculation.
Park Is Discovered by North Korean Soldiers
The first look ends before showing how Park escapes the facility. In the closing sequence, North Korean soldiers find him and the situation immediately turns against him.
That cliffhanger fits the official description of the mission, which presents Park's squad as being surrounded and hunted rather than controlling the battlefield.
Infinity Ward has not shown what happens after the discovery, where Park is trying to reach, or how Stranded ends.
Stranded vs Entrenched: MW4 Campaign Gameplay Looks More Varied
Stranded is especially interesting when compared with
Entrenched, the complete Campaign mission that was playable during the MW4 Beta.
Entrenched puts the player inside a large-scale assault involving friendly infantry and armored vehicles. The objective is to stop a strategically important nuclear power station from falling into enemy hands.
Stranded appears to take almost the opposite approach.

That difference supports Infinity Ward's wider description of the MW4 Campaign. The developer has said the story will move between large battles, covert missions, combined-arms warfare, and cinematic sequences rather than relying on one type of mission.
Entrenched showed us the large-scale side. Stranded is now giving us a much clearer look at the covert and survival-focused side.

Who Is Private Park in Modern Warfare 4?
Private Park is one of the main playable characters in Modern Warfare 4. Infinity Ward describes him as a young South Korean soldier who is experiencing real combat for the first time when North Korea launches its full-scale invasion.
What begins as a normal patrol quickly becomes a much larger war. Park and his unit are pushed through collapsing front lines, cities, counteroffensives, and now, based on Stranded, operations deep inside North Korean territory.
MW4's Campaign also follows Captain Price, but his part of the story starts far away from Park. Price is operating outside the system while pursuing his own mission, with the two sides of the story eventually connecting to the wider conflict.
Is Captain Price in the Stranded Mission?
Captain Price has not been confirmed to appear in Stranded.
The footage released so far focuses on Private Park and the forces operating inside North Korea. Infinity Ward has not shown Price in the Stranded first look or explained whether he becomes involved later in the mission.
Until more Campaign footage is released, Stranded should be treated as a Park-focused mission.
Why Stranded Is Important for the MW4 Campaign
Entrenched already proved that MW4 can deliver the large-scale warfare Infinity Ward has been advertising. Stranded matters because it shows the Campaign is also willing to slow down and place the player in a much less controlled situation.
Based on the Campaign footage revealed so far, MW4 is shaping up to include several different styles of missions:
- Large-scale frontline battles
- Combined infantry and vehicle combat
- Stealth and infiltration missions
- Isolated survival sequences
- Close-quarters combat
- Military facility infiltration
- Large cinematic set pieces
That variety may end up being one of the Campaign's biggest strengths. Stranded does not need dozens of explosions on screen at once to create pressure because the mission instead puts Park in enemy territory where detection itself becomes a threat.
We still do not know how long Stranded is, where it appears in the Campaign, or exactly what Park's objective is inside the North Korean facility.
When Can You Play the MW4 Stranded Mission?
Players will be able to access the full Modern Warfare 4 Campaign through
