Yes, the Modern Warfare 4 Beta includes a playable Campaign mission. The mission is called Entrenched, and it is the first complete Campaign mission ever made playable during a Call of Duty Beta.
Entrenched is available during both MW4 Beta weekends, including the free Open Beta. Here is what happens in the mission, when you can play it, how it fits into the MW4 Campaign, and whether your progress or rewards carry into the full game.

Is Campaign in the MW4 Beta?
Yes. The Modern Warfare 4 Beta includes one complete Campaign mission called Entrenched.
This is the
first time a Campaign mission has been playable in a Call of Duty Beta. Entrenched gives players an early look at MW4's cinematic Campaign combat, weapons, movement, and larger battlefield sequences before the full game launches.
It is separate from the Multiplayer maps, Kill Block, Ground War, Mobility Course, and Warzone content also included across the two Beta weekends.
For everything else included in the test, see our
Modern Warfare 4 Beta guide.
When Can You Play Entrenched in the MW4 Beta?
Entrenched is available during both MW4 Beta periods.

The Open Beta also adds Nintendo Switch 2 support alongside Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Battle.net.
You can see the complete content split in our
MW4 Beta Maps & Modes schedule.
What Is the Entrenched Mission in MW4?
Entrenched is a complete Campaign mission built around a large-scale ground assault.
Friendly forces are fighting to stop a
strategically vital nuclear power station from falling into enemy hands. Players advance alongside infantry and armored vehicles while fighting through a much larger battlefield than a typical small-scale covert mission.
Entrenched is designed to show off the same core systems used throughout the full MW4 Campaign, including its weapons, movement, combat mechanics, cinematic sequences, and combined-arms warfare.
Players can expect:
- A large-scale ground assault
- Friendly infantry fighting alongside you
- Armored vehicles
- Trench and frontline combat
- Close-range infantry fights
- Large battlefield sequences
- Cinematic Campaign moments
- A mission centered on protecting a vital nuclear power station
Unlike the open-combat approach seen in some recent Call of Duty games, Entrenched presents a more traditional cinematic Campaign experience built around a major frontline battle.
What Happens in Entrenched?
The main objective in Entrenched is now confirmed:
friendly forces must prevent a strategically important nuclear power station from falling into enemy hands.
The mission puts you directly into a large-scale assault, with infantry and armored vehicles advancing through a heavily contested battlefield. Rather than beginning with a quiet infiltration or covert operation, Entrenched throws players into the wider war driving Modern Warfare 4's story.
The mission also serves as an early demonstration of the Campaign's movement, weapons, combat systems, AI encounters, and cinematic presentation.
We will avoid spoiling the mission's later events or ending for players who want to experience Entrenched themselves.
What Weapons Can You Use in Entrenched?
Entrenched also gives players access to a weapon that is not available in MW4 Beta Multiplayer: the
Wz.55 Striga.
The Wz.55 Striga is a 9x18mm SMG built around high mobility, manageable recoil, and strong stopping power. Activision lists the weapon as
Campaign Mission Only, meaning Entrenched is currently the only place you can use it during the Beta.
Although the Striga has a full 52-level weapon progression listed for Modern Warfare 4, its Gunsmith and Apex Attachment are not accessible through the Beta Campaign mission. You also cannot take the weapon into Multiplayer and level it there during the Beta.
For the complete Beta arsenal and every confirmed unlock, see our
MW4 Beta weapons guide.
Is Entrenched Single-Player?
Yes. Entrenched is a single-player Campaign mission.
You do not need to form a squad with other players to experience it. This separates Entrenched from the Multiplayer, Kill Block, Ground War, and Warzone portions of the MW4 Beta.
It also gives players a chance to test the Campaign's gunplay, movement, presentation, AI, level design, and pacing before playing the full story.
Is the Full MW4 Campaign in the Beta?
No. Only the Entrenched mission is playable during the MW4 Beta.
Entrenched is a complete mission, but it is only one part of the much larger Modern Warfare 4 Campaign. The rest of the story remains locked until Campaign Early Access or the full game launch.
Players who
digitally pre-order or pre-purchase Modern Warfare 4 can access the full Campaign starting on
October 16, 2026, one week before the complete game launches on October 23.
Where Does Entrenched Fit Into the MW4 Story?
Modern Warfare 4 takes place during a major war on the Korean Peninsula after
North Korea launches a full-scale invasion.
One part of the Campaign follows
Private Park, a young South Korean soldier experiencing live combat alongside his squad as the invasion pushes the region into war. Another part of the story follows
Captain Price, who is operating outside the system and pursuing his own conflict from the shadows.
Entrenched comes from this larger Campaign and places players directly into the frontline war. However, Activision has not confirmed exactly where Entrenched appears in the final Campaign mission order.
Because of that, it is better to treat Entrenched as an early standalone look at the Campaign rather than assume it is the first mission or a specific chapter of the story.
Can You Replay Entrenched During the Beta?
Activision has confirmed that Entrenched is available during the MW4 Beta, but
it has not announced any specific replay limit for the mission.
Its availability is tied to the active Beta periods, with Entrenched included during both Early Access and the free Open Beta.
If Activision adds special difficulty options, challenges, replay restrictions, or additional Campaign settings during the Beta, we will update this section.
Does Entrenched Progress Carry Over to the Full Game?
You should not expect Entrenched Campaign progress to carry over to the full game.
Activision has confirmed that Player Level, weapon unlocks, and other in-Beta progression will not continue after the Beta ends. It has not announced any separate system that transfers Entrenched checkpoints, mission progress, or difficulty completion into the full Campaign.
Eligible cosmetic
Beta rewards are different. Rewards earned through the Beta reward system remain tied to your Activision Account and will become available when Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23.
Are There Rewards for Completing Entrenched?
No Entrenched-specific completion reward has been confirmed.
The MW4 Beta includes several progression rewards and additional challenge rewards, but Activision has not linked any Blueprint, Operator skin, Calling Card, Emblem, Charm, or other cosmetic specifically to completing Entrenched.
The Beta does include additional rewards from the Mobility Course, Combat Record, and one still-classified challenge. However, the classified challenge has
not been confirmed as an Entrenched or Campaign challenge.
If a Campaign completion reward is revealed during the Beta, we will add it here.
Why Is Campaign Included in the MW4 Beta?
Most Call of Duty betas have focused almost entirely on Multiplayer. Modern Warfare 4 is different because Activision is using the Beta to let players try several major parts of the game before launch.
Entrenched marks the
first time a complete Campaign mission has been playable during a Call of Duty Beta.
Across the two weekends, players can try content from:
- Campaign through Entrenched
- Multiplayer across several maps and modes
- Kill Block playlists
- Ground War through Combat Outpost
- Warzone through Zodiac Resurgence during Weekend 2
- Mobility Course training and challenges
This makes the MW4 Beta a broader preview of the full game rather than a traditional Multiplayer-only test.
