Valorant Season 2026 Act 3 introduces Skirmish: Ascension, a ranked version of the popular Skirmish mode. The original Skirmish gave players fast 2v2 fights, but it had one major problem: there was nothing serious to play for.
Skirmish: Ascension changes that with ranked leaderboards, 1v1 and 2v2 queues, limited agent abilities, staged weapons, and exclusive rewards. If you want to understand how the mode works before you queue, this guide covers everything you need to know.
What Is Skirmish: Ascension?
Skirmish: Ascension is a competitive version of Valorant’s Skirmish mode. It keeps the short, aim-focused format but adds a ranked ladder through the FTW website.
The mode is designed around clean gunfights. There is no spike plant, no full utility setup, and no long default round. You get a small map, staged weapons, a limited agent pool, and one selected ability per agent.
That means Skirmish: Ascension is mostly about mechanics, timing, positioning, and decision-making. If you usually rely on full utility combos to win fights, this mode will test you quickly.
How Skirmish: Ascension Works
Match Format
Skirmish: Ascension matches are played on Skirmish maps, with staged weapons across different round phases. The weapon pool is much smaller than standard Valorant, which keeps the mode focused and fair.
There is no Operator, Odin, Judge spam, or full-buy chaos. Each phase gives both sides the same limited weapon choices.
| Round Phase |
Available Weapons |
What It Tests |
| Rounds 1-4 |
Bandit or Sheriff |
Pistol aim, patience, and clean first shots |
| Rounds 5-8 |
Bulldog or Guardian |
Burst control, tapping, and mid-range duels |
| Rounds 9-10 |
Phantom or Vandal |
Rifle fundamentals and clutch discipline |
Agent Pool And Abilities
Skirmish: Ascension does not use the full Valorant agent pool. Instead, Riot selected a limited group of agents and gave each one only one ability.
This keeps abilities important, but not overwhelming. You still need to think about flashes, movement, cages, walls, and reposition tools, but you cannot hide behind full utility spam.

1v1 And 2v2 Queues
Skirmish: Ascension has two eligible queues:
1v1 and
2v2. Each queue has its own leaderboard, and progress is tracked separately.
That means your 1v1 climb does not carry over to 2v2, and your 2v2 results do not affect your 1v1 leaderboard rank. If you want to compete in both, you need to play both modes.
Ranking System

The Skirmish: Ascension ladder mirrors Valorant’s regular competitive ranks, from
Iron to
Radiant. Your rank is based on a point system that looks at your win/loss record and the strength of your opponents.
Winning against stronger players helps you climb more. Farming easy wins against weaker opponents will not be as effective. If there is a tie on the leaderboard, the player with more games played gets the higher placement.

FTW Account Requirement
To join the Skirmish: Ascension leaderboard, you need more than just a Riot Games account. You must also create and link a
FTW account through the official FTW website.
This step is important because participation is not automatic. If you play Skirmish: Ascension before registering on FTW, those matches will not count toward your leaderboard placement.
Before You Queue, Do This
- Create or sign in to your FTW account.
- Link your Riot Games account.
- Register for the Skirmish: Ascension leaderboard.
- Choose whether you want to play 1v1, 2v2, or both.
- Complete three placement matches in the queue you want to appear on.
Rewards are also handled through FTW. Player cards and titles are delivered as text codes through the
Rewards tab, and you must redeem them before their expiration date.
All Skirmish: Ascension Rewards
Skirmish: Ascension rewards are split into two groups. Some rewards are based on match completion, while titles are based on your highest leaderboard rank during the event.
Participation Rewards
These rewards do not require a high rank. You only need to complete the required number of matches.
| Requirement |
Reward |
| Complete 3 placement matches in a single queue |
Act 3 Key Art: Combat Ready Player Card |

Rank-Based Title Rewards
The title rewards are based on your highest rank achieved on the Skirmish leaderboard during the challenge period.
| Rank Achieved |
Title Reward |
| Gold to Platinum |
Skirmish Competitor |
| Diamond to Immortal |
Skirmish Expert |
| Radiant |
Skirmish Legend |
The
Skirmish Legend title is the main prestige reward. It requires reaching Radiant on the Skirmish leaderboard, making it one of the hardest rewards in the event.
Skirmish: Ascension Event Dates
Skirmish: Ascension starts on
April 29, 2026, when Skirmish queues become available in your region. The event ends on
June 22, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT.
That gives players a 55-day challenge window. Since the event uses separate 1v1 and 2v2 leaderboards, you should decide early whether you want to focus on one queue or grind both.
Why Skirmish: Ascension Matters
Skirmish: Ascension matters because it gives Valorant players a more focused competitive experience. Standard ranked can often feel heavy on team comps, ability setups, role balance, and match length.
This mode cuts most of that away. You still have agents and abilities, but every player only gets one tool. The rest comes down to aim, movement, timing, and smart fights.
For players who wanted a more direct test of mechanical skill, Skirmish: Ascension is exactly that. It also gives Riot a way to test whether a smaller, faster ranked experience can work long-term.
