Marvel Rivals brings players together across PC and console, but crossplay and cross-progression work very differently depending on mode and platform.
With a major account linking update released in November 2025, cross-progression is now officially supported. This guide explains exactly how crossplay works, how cross-progression functions, and what limitations still apply.
Is Marvel Rivals Crossplay?
Yes, but with mode-specific restrictions.
Crossplay availability depends on whether you are playing casual or ranked modes.
Casual Mode Crossplay
Full crossplay is enabled across all platforms in non-ranked modes:
- Quick Match
- Conquest
- Custom Games
- Practice Mode
Players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S can queue together freely in these modes.
Ranked Mode Crossplay Restrictions
Ranked matchmaking is platform-separated to preserve competitive balance:
- Console pool: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S
- PC pool: PC players only
Keyboard and mouse precision creates a competitive advantage over controllers, so PC players do not face console players in ranked matches.
This separation only applies to ranked play.
How To Disable Crossplay in Marvel Rivals
If you prefer platform-only matchmaking, crossplay can be disabled on console.
How To Disable Crossplay on PlayStation 5
- Launch Marvel Rivals
- Open Settings
- Go to the Social tab
- Find Cross-Platform Play
- Toggle it off
How To Disable Crossplay on Xbox
Xbox uses system-level settings:
- Open Xbox Settings
- Select Account
- Go to Privacy & Online Safety
- Choose Xbox Privacy
- Select View Details and Customize
- Open Communication & Multiplayer
- Block Join Cross-Network Play
Important: This disables crossplay for
all Xbox games, not just Marvel Rivals.
How To Disable Crossplay on PC
Crossplay cannot be disabled on PC.
Steam and Epic Games versions always have crossplay enabled in supported modes.
Is Marvel Rivals Cross-Progression?
Yes. Cross-progression was officially introduced in November 2025 through account linking.
Once enabled, you can use the same character across multiple platforms.
How Marvel Rivals Cross-Progression Works
Cross-progression works by linking platform accounts together so they all access a single character.
- Each account normally has one character
- Linked accounts can share one selected primary character
- You can log in on any linked platform and play that character
Supported Platforms for Cross-Progression
- Steam
- Epic Games
- Loading Bay
- PlayStation
- Xbox
How To Link Accounts for Cross-Progression
- Go to Settings โ Other โ Account โ Account Binding
- Select a platform different from your current login
- Complete verification
- Wait for binding to finish
PlayStation note: Due to Sony policies, only one PSN account can ever be linked. You can relink to the original PSN account, but not replace it.
Primary Character Selection
If multiple linked accounts already have characters:
- You must choose one primary character
- Other characters are stored, not deleted
- You can switch primary characters later
Switching has a cooldown, so choose carefully.
Rank, Leaderboards, and Competitive Progress
Even with cross-progression enabled, ranked data remains platform-specific.
- PC, PlayStation, and Xbox ranks are separate
- Leaderboard positions do not carry across platforms
- Matchmaking is still device-based
Season rewards: At season end, rewards are based on the
highest valid rank achieved on any linked platform.
Cross-Progression Limitations
Some restrictions still apply:
- Platform-exclusive costumes only work on their original platform
- Purchased bundles cannot be repurchased on the same platform
- Discord and Twitch Drops do not auto-sync after linking
If you log into another platform wearing an exclusive skin, your character will display the default costume.
Cooldown Rules You Should Know
- Platform cooldown: 180 days after unlinking an account
- Character cooldown: 30 minutes after switching primary character
Cooldowns prevent abuse and trading issues.
Tournaments and Factions
No changes were made for competitive structures.
- Faction actions must be performed on the required device
- PC-only factions require PC login
- Console factions require console login
Attempting to join from the wrong device will block the action.
Summary
- Crossplay is enabled in casual modes only
- Ranked matchmaking remains platform-separated
- Cross-progression is now live via account linking
- Progress is shared, but ranks stay platform-specific
Marvel Rivals now offers one of the most flexible cross-platform systems in modern hero shooters, as long as you understand its limits.
