League of Legends Classic has its own leveling system, and reaching Level 30 takes much more XP than the early levels suggest. Players need to understand the full XP curve, mission rewards, and time commitment before starting the grind.

This LoL Classic leveling guide covers every XP requirement from Level 0 to 30, estimated games and hours, important unlocks, and the fastest ways to progress.

Quick answer: You need 13,950 Classic XP to progress from Classic Level 0 to Level 30. Using a planning estimate of 100 XP per 30 minutes, the full journey takes about 69 hours and 45 minutes before mission XP is deducted.

How LoL Classic Leveling Works

League Classic uses a separate progression track called Classic Level. It does not use your normal League of Legends account level, and every player starts the Classic journey at Level 0.

The maximum Classic Level is 30. You increase it by playing League Classic matches and completing Classic missions.

Classic Levels unlock important features and rewards, including:

  • Classic Mastery Pages
  • Mark, Seal, Glyph, and Quintessence Rune slots
  • Influence Points
  • Blue Essence
  • Additional Rune Pages
  • Summonerโ€™s Journey access
  • Council voting power
  • Icons, portraits, emotes, and titles
  • The RUSTIER Blitzcrank Classic Skin

Players receive default Rune and Mastery setups before unlocking full customization. This means you can begin playing without being completely disadvantaged against higher-level accounts.

Players who want to skip part of the grind can use our LoL Classic Level Boost and select their current and desired Classic Level.

LoL Classic XP Requirements by Level

Riot has published the complete XP curve for all 30 Classic Levels. The early levels require only 50 to 200 XP, but the cost rises sharply after Level 20.

The final five levels alone require 6,000 XP. That is more than 43% of the entire Level 0 to 30 grind.

Estimation method: Riot has confirmed the XP required for each level, but it has not published one fixed XP amount for every completed match. The game and time estimates below use 100 Classic XP per 30 minutes of active play as a planning baseline.

How Much XP Do You Get Per LoL Classic Game?

Riot has confirmed that players gain Classic Levels by playing League Classic and completing missions. However, Riotโ€™s progression page does not provide one guaranteed XP amount for every regular match.

Match XP may depend on the live system, match type, match duration, and future balance changes. The first live matches will provide a clearer average for wins, losses, PvP, and Co-op vs AI.

XP From Winning a Classic Match

Winning is important because the daily Classic mission requires one matchmade League Classic win. Completing it awards:

  • 100 Classic XP
  • 500 Influence Points
  • 20 Classic Pass Coins

Any matchmade game counts toward this daily mission. This makes the first win of the day one of the most valuable parts of efficient Classic leveling.

The 100 XP is a mission reward. It may be earned in addition to normal match progression, depending on how the live system awards XP after the match.

XP From Classic Missions

Classic missions provide a reliable source of known XP. They can reduce the amount of regular match grinding required to reach Level 30.

Mission Type Requirement Classic XP Other Rewards
Daily Win one matchmade League Classic game 100 XP 500 IP and 20 Classic Pass Coins
Weekly Play three Classic games as different champions 100 XP 250 Blue Essence and 25 Classic Pass Coins
Weekly Play six Classic games as different champions 100 XP 750 IP and 25 Classic Pass Coins
One-Time Play one Co-op vs AI Classic match 100 XP 1,000 Blue Essence
A player who completes the daily win mission every day can earn 700 mission XP in a full week. The two weekly missions add another 200 XP.

Including the one-time Co-op vs AI mission, a player can earn at least 1,000 confirmed mission XP during an active first week. At our planning rate, that removes about five hours from the base Level 30 estimate.

Does Co-op vs AI Give Classic XP?

Yes, Co-op vs AI can provide Classic XP through its one-time introductory mission. Playing one Co-op vs AI Classic match awards 100 Classic XP and 1,000 Blue Essence.

The mission confirms that the mode can help with early progression. Riot has not yet confirmed whether repeatable Co-op matches give the same base XP rate as PvP games.

How Long Does It Take to Reach Level 30 in LoL Classic?

Reaching Classic Level 30 requires 13,950 XP. A practical starting estimate is around 60 to 70 active gameplay hours for an average player who completes missions regularly.

Players with efficient games, consistent daily wins, and all weekly missions may finish faster. Players who miss missions, have long queues, or gain less XP per hour may need 80 hours or more.

Leveling Approach Estimated Match Equivalents Estimated Active Time Expected Calendar Time
Efficient progression 105-120 52-60 hours 7-15 days
Average progression 125-140 62-70 hours 2-4 weeks
Slower progression 155-185 78-93 hours 4-6 weeks
Efficient progression assumes regular daily wins, completed weekly missions, low downtime, and good XP earned per hour.

Average progression assumes normal queue times, a mixed win rate, common mission completion, and around 100 XP per 30 minutes.

Slower progression assumes missed missions, longer breaks between matches, lower XP efficiency, and more time spent in queues or champion select.

These are active gameplay estimates rather than official Riot completion times. We will have a more exact average once live match XP has been tested across several game types and match lengths.

How Many Games Does LoL Classic Level 30 Take?

Using 100 XP as a simple match equivalent, reaching Classic Level 30 takes about 140 match equivalents before mission XP is included.

This does not mean every player will need exactly 140 games. A match may award more or less than 100 XP, while daily and weekly missions add XP outside the standard progression estimate.

Target Level Total XP Required 100-XP Match Equivalents Baseline Active Time
Level 5500 XP52h 30m
Level 101,400 XP147h 00m
Level 152,750 XP2813h 45m
Level 204,750 XP4823h 45m
Level 257,950 XP8039h 45m
Level 3013,950 XP14069h 45m
The grind becomes much slower near the end. Reaching Level 25 requires 7,950 XP, but the final five levels require another 6,000 XP.

Fastest Way to Level Up in LoL Classic

There is no single shortcut that removes the XP requirement. However, combining missions with efficient play can reduce the total number of regular games required.

1. Complete Every Daily Win Mission

The daily win mission awards 100 Classic XP, 500 IP, and 20 Classic Pass Coins. Missing one daily win means losing XP that cannot be recovered through that same daily mission later.

Prioritize getting at least one matchmade win each day, even when you do not have time for a longer session.

2. Complete Both Weekly Champion Missions

The weekly missions require games with different champions. One mission asks for three different champions, while the next asks for six.

Plan your champion choices before playing. Repeating the same champion for every match may slow your weekly mission progress, even if it is your strongest pick.

3. Finish the One-Time Co-op vs AI Mission

The first Co-op vs AI mission gives 100 Classic XP and 1,000 Blue Essence. It should be one of the first tasks completed on a new Classic progression track.

Co-op is also a useful place to test old champion abilities, items, Runes, and Masteries before entering PvP Draft.

4. Focus on XP Earned Per Hour

A short match is not always more efficient if it provides much less XP. Track the total XP earned against the full time spent queueing, selecting champions, loading, and playing.

For example, earning 120 XP in a 35-minute full cycle may be better than earning 80 XP in a 25-minute cycle.

5. Use Champions You Can Win With Consistently

Winning completes the daily mission and may improve your overall progression rate. Use a small champion pool instead of learning a new champion in every PvP match.

You can still rotate champions for weekly missions, but choose simple or familiar options whenever possible.

6. Play With a Reliable Duo or Group

A coordinated group can reduce avoidable losses and make games more consistent. Communication is especially useful in Classic, where older champion kits and slower gameplay punish mistakes more heavily.

A reliable group may also make it easier to test different champions while still maintaining a reasonable win rate.

7. Reduce Downtime Between Matches

Queue again soon after each game, prepare your Rune and Mastery setups early, and avoid spending long periods in the client between matches.

Saving five minutes between 100 matches removes more than eight hours of total calendar time.

Important LoL Classic Level Milestones
