Hey lads. Our Heroes of the Storm boosting team will talk about the HotS Braxis Holdout map, you'll see some general info on how the map works but also some great tips that can help you draft better and maximize your winrate on this HotS map. A complete Braxis Holdout guide to be precise. Let's dig in!

What's Braxis Holdout anyway?

Braxis Holdout is a map from the Starcraft franchise. The Dominion used the remote and hostile planet Braxis to conduct experiments on ways to turn the Zerg swarm into a weapon they could unleash on their enemies. Though the Dominion's main psi disrupter was destroyed, this space platform's beacons remain fully operational and ready to be used. Capture the beacons and watch what happens when a flood of weaponized Zerg ravages the battlefield.

The goal of the map is to capture both objective points (similar to Dragon Shire points), while both are captured, a holding cell (there's 2 holding cells, one for each team) is being filled from 0 to 100%. After it's completely filled, the objective points disappear and both cells release Zerg waves with anywhere from 0 to 40,000 health that rush the lane. Standard goal, defeat the enemy team and their core.

Strategy

- Make sure to have a wave clear / pushing hero per lane.

- When objectives spawn, it's crucial to position yourself appropriately and win a teamfight for one of the objective points while maximizing the soak from both lanes.

- Remember that many heroes had their speed reduced this patch, and everyone's mount speed too, you need to be smart when rotating.

- Have your tank lead the rotations and try to wipe the enemy team to control both points.

- When they respawn and come to contest, don't spread like chickens, be smart and get ready to defend your points.

- When the Zerg wave is released, if you have a lot more and/or Sylvanas in your team, push with the wave. If it's balanced or your lost, defend. Alternatively you can push even if balanced zergs on both sides if you have a great wave clearer defending your lane.

- Do the Boss only when you're completely safe from the enemy team

- Do Merc camps only when you've pushed both lanes and there's no spawns up. Try to time merc camps with Zerg waves too if you have good junglers.

Braxis Holdout Tips

- First objective points spawn at 01:50, the next time they spawn is about 1:45min after the last Zerg was defeated.

- The position of the zerg wave is indicated by the color of the door near the globe generator.

- Globes respawn every 45 seconds, meaning that quest talents that require globes could be easier to stack.

- The boss doesn't have any CC or HP, but A LOT of damage, even long range AoE damage similar to Tychus' Brodin. Boss is also at the middle meaning it's the worst throw pit ever made, do not throw games there.

- The zerg waves seem balanced enough if you form a team that can clear them well, if not, you're f*cked.

- Mercs aren't that strong because they screw your objective points rotation and waste valuable time, use jungler heroes if you want to get them, don't waste time. Bribe could also be useful on this map. (Zagara, Illidan, Jaina, Sonya and so on)

- Pushing power is important, pick heroes with a lot of pushing power. Zagara, Sylvanas, Kael'thas, Xul and so on.

- Waveclear is super important, make sure to grab Sylvanas, Kael'thas, Johanna, Jaina, Xul and similar heroes!

- Arthas' clears the Zerg well.

- Gazlowe seems to be a good pick on this map due to contesting the objective well and laning successfully in the mean time. Just like on Dragon Shire. Same goes for Rexxar.
